Day 5 - Wednesday October 5th 2011
Today Ezra got a tiny shot of caffeine to help with his breathing and lung development. He also got a tiny little suppository stuck in his butt, been a couple hours and still no luck with the pooping. I changed his diaper and took his temperature, it was 98.7.
I saw him yawn for the first time, he has a tiny little tongue! He's been opening his eyes a lot more today and making a lot more facial expressions. The puffiness around his eyes is starting to go down. I got a great photo of him with his eyes open. Will upload tonight when I get my usb cord.
Rita his nurse just came in and told me there putting the pic (sp?) line in and removing the IV from his tummy, so he can get nutrients this way. They say this is a lot better because it will last longer than an IV, and they won't have to keep moving it around. It's a sterile procedure so I can't be back there while this is happening. I hope everything goes OK!
UPDATE:
Everything went great with the PIC line, its this tiny tube that goes in his arm all the way to his chest. He did great and is very sleepy from all the work they did on him today. But the tube in his stomach is now gone and he looks much happier!
