Last night around 7pm, we took him out of his incubator for the first time since he was put in. I had to put a gown on so we could have skin to skin contact, they call it Kangaroo Care. It was the most amazing thing in the entire world. I stood next to his incubator and lifted him up on my chest, then the nurses and Ryan helped me inch back to the chair. He was wide awake and could definitely tell it was me holding him because Ryan and his mom said he kept trying to look up at me. Eventually he fell asleep and after an hour we put him back in. Truly one of the most amazing experiences of my life.
I wake up to find out they took him off his ventilator this morning and he is breathing on his own!!! This is huge and probably one of the most important milestones to accomplish while he's in there. They said they're going to continue to monitor him, but so far he is doing great!
