Day 8 - October 8th 2011

Ezra has been consistently breathing on his own and officially moved to the nasal CPAP, which basically gives him continuous pressurized oxygen through his nose to help with his breathing. He has to wear a little hat to keep the mask on his face and prongs in his nose. We can't see his face that well anymore and it looks very tight smooshing his face, but they have assured us its normal and his lil face is fine. It was nice before because we got to see his eyes open and all the new facial expressions and now he can't really open his eyes that well, but I have to remember this is a huge step in the right direction.

I got to hold him again today for the second time...just as amazing as the first. Tomorrow hopefully Ryan will get to have his turn. They upped his milk dosage to 3 ml every 3 hours, from 2 ml yesterday and 1 ml the day before, so he is definitely tolerating it really well. Pretty amazing considering he wasn't supposed to be eating for another 3 months! Oh and the biggest news of all, he had his first real poop today, yippee!
